"It's Always Been About Heroes"

* Colin was left at the steps of the St. Aiden’s orphanage just after he had been born and, lying next to him in the basket, was a teddy bear he named Rory. He’s always kept Rory with him and, with the exception of Damian, that bear is his closest friend and he tells it absolutely anything and everything. It’s always been there for him and he feels that it’s the closest to a real family he’ll ever get.

* At first, he had no idea that the venom that’s making him able to be the one thing he’s always dreamed of being -a hero- was killing him. Is killing him.

When he went on patrol one night, he ran into a group of thugs that were working on breaking into a jewelry store. Of course, Colin focused and transformed into Abuse like usual in order to stop them. However, this time, the transformation actually hurt. He had been so shocked by this that he hadn’t been able to keep his concentration and morphed back into Colin again. Being unable to fight like this, he had no choice but to run.

He became concerned though and the next time he met Damian, he told him about what had happened. Which, just the day after, led to Colin taking several tests at the Batcave to figure out what was wrong. And that is when he was told that the venom is killing him.

Of course, Colin keeps changing into Abuse in order to protect Gotham. It makes no difference whether he transforms or not, as the venom will eventually kill him either way, so he wants to put his abilities to the use of good for as long as he possibly can.

Transforming into Abuse still hurts, however, and the pain is only growing as time passes. Thankfully, it doesn’t hurt to transform back into Colin, but he fears that one day that might get painful too and when it does…he’s not sure how much longer it will take for the venom to finish the job.
